Value Management
This module provides the history, background, theories, concept and principles of value engineering / value management in decision making process. This module also introduces the idea of unnecessary cost and cost cutting exercise in the cost planning and control stage. It is then generally covers area of implementation of value engineering and the key person involved - the facilitator. The module concludes with a series of discussion on the problem and constraint in the implementation stage based on some significant case studies.
Group Assignment
We are required to prepare a case study report on a project of our choice where a Value Management study has been conducted by our value management team for presentation to client. The report shall include the following :-

A. Introduction – Primary purpose of VM study

B. Executive summary of project under study
ï‚· A brief description of project
ï‚· A brief summary of problem

C. The result of Functional Analysis or any VM tools and techniques
​
D. Sketches before and after design showing proposed changes of design (if any)
​
E. Technical data supporting the selection of alternatives
​
F. Cost Plan/Cost Analysis/Cost Study
​
G. Action plan – preparation of action plan to implement the accepted recommendations and to monitor the progress.

Learning Outcome:
In this assignment, I was able to put theories that I learnt during lectures and tutorials into implementation as I am
able to understand the principle and process of implementing Value Management study and apply it in different project
in order to the project to run smoothly and prevent any miscommunication and conflicts between each other. Not only
that, we also learnt the selection and role of the facilitator and VM team.
Moreover,this assignment help us to develop and reinforce our thinking and problem solving skills thinking critically in order for us to overcome each hurdles that we faced while accomplishing the project.When we face the difficult things or problem,we can able to solve it.
Communication is the necessity for this assignment because this is a group assignment, we need to
communicate with other group member and discuss the details of the project. It can improve our
communicated skills and promote our relationship.
